Commissioned by Google Doodles, this illustration celebrates the life and groundbreaking scientific achievements of Dr. Har Gobind Khorana, Nobel Prize-winning biochemist whose pioneering research helped decode the genetic language of life.
DECODING THE LANGUAGE OF LIFE
The aim of this project was to celebrate the extraordinary legacy of Dr. Har Gobind Khorana and his contributions to genetics. Creating this doodle was an opportunity to celebrate the remarkable legacy of Dr. Har Gobind Khorana.
Inspired by his groundbreaking work on the genetic code, I sought to translate a complex scientific achievement into an accessible visual narrative that honors his lasting impact on science and medicine.
IDEATION & VISUAL EXPLORATION
Exploring various ways to represent Khorana's pioneering research through scientific symbols, genetic code, laboratory elements, and typographic compositions.
SELECTED DIRECTION & ITERATION
Further development of the chosen DNA-inspired concept, refining the flow of genetic sequences around the portrait and integrating the Google logotype into the final composition.
MOOD & PALETTE EXPLORATION
A series of studies exploring vintage tones, textured surfaces, and pen-and-ink cross-hatching to establish the visual atmosphere and historical character of the doodle.
